Old Hollywood Glamour For This Bride Wearing Sophia Tolli "Desiree"
October 29, 2019
Another beautiful bride wearing Sophia Tolli! Bride Mary wore Desiree, style Y11721, a strapless, satin full A-line gown with sweetheart neckline and asymmetrical side draped bodice complete with crystal hand-beaded broach. Mary was simply stunning for her vintage old Hollywood themed wedding in Devon. To see more gorgeous photos by photographer Claire Tregaskis, and to read Mary's account of her big day, see below ~
"We had a winter wedding in March 2019 in Devon, held at a country house hotel nestled in the middle of Dartmoor called The Horn of Plenty. The theme was vintage old Hollywood so there were lots of candles, crystals, fairy lights, sparkling diamantes and chandeliers. The men all wore black tie, and I wanted a real showstopper of a dress! I wore Sophia Tolli Desiree style number Y11721 which was so perfect, I couldn't believe it when I found it - heavy draped satin, corseted to create a classic silhouette with a full A line skirt, sweeping train, and 1950s edge with the shape of the bodice, crystal decor on the ruched bodice but otherwise plain and simple and so striking - it was heaven. My dress was bought from The Wedding Company of Plymouth. I styled it up with huge diamante earrings which I had made specially and a diamante hair slide, and full make up with dark red lipstick. I had 11 bridesmaids - I couldn't choose between my friends who I love dearly - so this became a comedy theme to the day too, my huge bridal party! There were nine adults and two babies, (my nieces) and it was amazing having them all around me. The two year olds wore cream lace dresses and the adults wore different dresses in shades of dusky purple and dark purple and carried cream tulips, my favourite flowers. I carried a bouquet of tulips, calla lilies, roses, bouvardia and anemones in dusky purples, creams and pinks. We had fifty close friends and family with us for the ceremony, then threw a huge party in the evening for everyone. It was the most amazing day ever. Music is really important to us so we asked The Swing Kings to play live for the ceremony - an acoustic set performed by guitar as I walked down the aisle, and as we walked out as man and wife - then they played three live sets throughout the day."
